Joining a workshop.
Here's what to expect before a first session: the details I'll ask for, and the short agreement we go over together.
A short intake, nothing more than needed.
The first time a learner joins, I collect a few basics so I can run a safe session and keep you in the loop. This is what that looks like.
The simple agreement.
Workshops involve hands-on work—small electronics, hand tools, and the ordinary bumps of a making space. This agreement is a two-way street: here's what I commit to, and what I ask of everyone taking part.
I keep the copy here as current as I can, but the version you'll actually sign may be a little newer. Just ask and I'll send the latest before you do.
- Safe, supervised sessions. Sessions involve building with electronics and simple tools. I review safe handling at the start and supervise the hands-on work throughout.
- A cared-for space. I keep the workshop clean, organized, and set up to minimize hazards—and I'll stop any activity that isn't going safely.
- Take care of the space. Treat the tools, equipment, and room with care, and pitch in to clean up at the end.
- Listen and follow directions. Follow instructions during the session—especially around safety—and ask before using a tool or device.
- Respect others. Treat the other participants and their work with respect.
- Speak up. Let me know about anything that feels unsafe, breaks, or isn't working.
- Ordinary risk. As with any hands-on activity, minor incidents (such as a small scrape) are possible. By enrolling, the participant—or a parent or guardian, for a learner under 18—acknowledges this.
- Medical & emergencies. Please note any allergies or medical needs I should know about. In an emergency I'll contact the emergency contact above and seek care as needed.
- Photos. I may photograph work in progress, and won't use a participant's image publicly without the separate permission below.
Reach out and we'll set a time.
Registration is by appointment. Send a note or call and I'll confirm a session, answer any questions, and share this form to complete before the first visit.
